Artist Bio:

Sarah Howell’s artistic practice covers many genres – drawing, writing, sculpture, jewellery, street events and online collaborative projects – but the starting point for much of her work is drawing, in particular, comic strip narratives.

In 2003/04 Sarah co-curated “The Dark Woods” a survey exhibition of Australian comic book art that is currently touring nationally. It is this experience, combined with Sarah’s background in street events and sculpture which has prompted her to develop an interest in creating temporary installation events that use the narrative and symbolic language of graphic novels and mini comics to explore concerns about identity, ritual, storytelling and knowledge sharing.
